Pre-Reader Challenges

• Sing the ABC song.
• Find the first letter of your name on a sign outside.
• Sign up for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten or complete a page in your log book.
• Draw a picture outside.
• Dance to your favorite song.
• Read a book outside with a family member.
• Find your favorite color in a book.
• List five words that start with the
  first letter of your name.
• Read along with an eBook on
  BookFlix or OverDrive.
• Act out a story for your family.
• Trace the letters of your name in sand, dirt or rice.
• Attend storytime at the library.
• Read five books by your favorite author.
• Watch an online storytime on the library’s YouTube channel.
• Read a book about your favorite animal, then pretend to be that animal.
• Tell a friend about your favorite character
  from a book.

Elementary Challenges

• Recommend your favorite book to a
  friend or family member.
• Read a book with a character who looks
  different from you.
