(Download Libby: Android | iOS) To access the magazine collection, you will need to add the Library of Virginia as an additional library on your Libby account. Please note: Magazines can only be found in the Library of Virginia’s Libby collection — not in LCPL’s Libby collection.

  2. Open the settings menu by tapping the round icon in the top right corner.
  3. In the settings menu, tap “Add A Library.”
  4. When the search box appears, search for “Library of Virginia.”
  5. Tap the red box under “Matching Libraries.” This will take you to the Library of Virginia’s Find It Virginia collection.
  6. Scroll down to the section where it says, “Let’s take a moment to sign into your Library of Virginia account. Where do you use your library card?” Tap “Choose A Location.”
  7. A menu will pop up with a list of libraries. Tap “Loudoun County Public Library.”
  8. Enter your library card number into the box, then enter your PIN (your birthdate in a MMDDYY format). Tap “Sign In.”
  9. Now that you’re signed in, return to the top of the screen.
  10. Tap “Explore,” and then “Guide: Magazines.”
  11. Once you’ve found a magazine, tap the cover and then tap “Borrow.”
  12. Your magazine is now available on your “Shelf,” in the bottom-right of the main screen.

Frequently asked questions

How many magazines can I borrow?

As many as you like. They don’t count toward your monthly OverDrive checkout limits and there are no holds or waitlists.

How long can I keep magazines?

Magazines have a borrowing period of 21 days, but you can renew them as many times as you like.

Are back issues available?

There will be a “rolling” three years of back issues wherever available, based on the date of publication. The most recent issue of every magazine will appear in search results, with links to previous issues from the magazine’s title details page.

I downloaded the Libby app using my LCPL library card, but I can’t find the magazines. Where are they?

The new magazine collection is provided by the Library of Virginia and is shared by all public libraries in the Commonwealth. It is located exclusively on the Library of Virginia's Libby page. To access the magazine collection, you will need to add the Library of Virginia as an additional library on your Libby account. See "Using the Libby app" instructions above.

In the Libby app, how do I toggle back and forth between the LCPL and Library of Virginia collections?

Open the settings menu by tapping the round icon in the top right corner. Under "Your Libraries," tap either the Library of Virginia (for magazines) or Loudoun County Public Library (for eBooks and audiobooks).

There are a lot of magazines on here. How do I find what I'm looking for?

Use the subject filters to explore magazines based on topics or languages; or find specific publications using the search bar.
